Globally renowned architects from Moreau Kusunoki will partner with local firm Genton to establish the new Powerhouse Museum in Parramatta.
The architectural team’s bold vision for Western Sydney’s first major museum was unveiled after being selected out of 74 entries from 20 countries.
NSW Minister for the Arts Don Harwin described the design as inspiring and a bold visualisation of a contemporary cultural institution that meets the expectation of modern audiences.
“The relocated Powerhouse Museum represents the largest investment in arts and culture infrastructure since the Sydney Opera House,” Mr Harwin said.
“There simply will not be another building like it in Australia.”
The new Powerhouse Museum is expected to attract leading researchers, scientists and creatives from across Australia and around the world, while also providing ongoing opportunities for students from across NSW.
