From 26 August 2014, 330 buses serving Western Sydney and the Sutherland Shire will go live with Opal. This follows the launch of Opal on all State Transit buses serving North Sydney.
Minister for Transport Gladys Berejiklian said these milestones mean customers can now use Opal Card on all suburban and intercity trains, and on all Sydney Ferries. From next week 2,890 Opal-enabled bus services will be live across Sydney.
“I am so pleased we have now passed the halfway point of the bus rollout and are on track to have Opal on all 5,000 buses across Sydney and the regions by the end of the year”, Ms Berejiklian said.
Ms Berejiklian also reminded customers about the retirement of 14 paper tickets on 1 September 2014. She advised customers of the soon-to-be retired tickets, which include the MyTrain weekly, to sign up to Opal now.
Customers can now get their Opal card from 1,000 retail stores, more than 50 pop-up kiosks or the Opal website and 13 OPAL call centre.
