Scholarships for young athletes
SESA’s individual athlete program will support up to 50 of south east NSW’s high-performing young athletes with a scholarship of up to $500 to go towards education and travel.
The athletes will also attend a two-day sport education course in October 2017 and have access to the Australian Institute of Sport’s myAISbasecamp, an online program to develop important skills for the world of elite sports.
Coaches who join the program will receive financial support, access to accreditation courses and mentoring with elite level coaches.
Minister for Sport Stuart Ayres is encouraging all eligible athletes and coaches to apply for a scholarship.
“These new initiatives will provide an important pathway between grassroots participation and elite level sport,” Mr Ayres said.
Applications close in September 2017.
The new sporting academy provides sport development programs to help athletes living in south east NSW to progress to the elite level.
SESA also offers squad programs in partnership with state sport organisations, including golf, cycling, netball and surfing.
