Clever Buoy uses sonar to detect large swimming objects like sharks, and sends this real-time information back to lifeguards on the beach.

The buoy is approximately 500 metres offshore. The trial will test and confirm the system’s capabilities and information flow to Bondi lifeguards.

The trial of this technology is part of the NSW Government’s $16 million Shark Management Strategy to help reduce the risk of shark attacks.
