US visitors soar with more flights to Sydney

8 May 2014
US visitor numbers into NSW will soar as Sydney Airport secures a direct Qantas A380 flight service from Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas (DFW) to Sydney.

The new service will include 6 non-stop flights between DFW and Sydney every week, delivering 13,700 additional visitors to Sydney annually.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Tourism and Major Events Andrew Stoner said the extra flights would generate about $25 million of extra visitor spending in NSW every year.

“Securing this A380 service for Sydney, in the face of strong efforts from other Australian cities, is a significant achievement for NSW,” Mr Stoner said.

The US market is one of NSW’s top five key tourism markets. According to the latest International Visitor Survey results, last year almost 300,000 visitors from the US contributed approximately $570 million to the NSW economy.

The new service will begin by the end of September 2014.
