Winter Solstice lighting up Sydney
Winter solstice is the shortest day of the year (and the longest night) and Sydney will celebrate with a 12-day festival of food and entertainment, arts and culture.

More than 200 Sydney Solstice events will light up the city throughout June 2021. Festival highlights range from a country music festival in Newtown to a celebration of Aboriginal song and astrology at Sydney Observatory.
Running from 8 to 20 June 2021, Sydney Solstice celebrates local talent and creativity and will help boost Sydney’s night-time economy.
More than 150 venues across Sydney's popular and emerging precincts and hundreds of artists, chefs, musicians and performers will come together to celebrate.
Festival activities include:
- the reopening of Metro Theatre
- an ice rink and art installations at Darling Harbour
- a two-day street festival at the new South Eveleigh precinct, featuring chef Kylie Kwong.
