Funding package to support WorldPride Festival events program
NSW’s art and cultural institutions and independent artists will receive $1 million in financial support to stage next year’s inaugural Sydney WorldPride Festival.
Running from 17 February until 5 March 2023, the event is expected to attract thousands of international visitors to celebrate the global LGBTQIA+ community, on what will be the 45th anniversary of Sydney’s first Mardi Gras Parade.
Individuals and groups are invited to apply for a share of the funding through Create NSW to stage any artform fromFirst Nations arts, visual arts, and theatre, to dance, literature, and the multi-arts.
Arts Minister Ben Franklin said the funding will create jobs for the sector, boost the state’s economy, and firmly place Sydney on the world map as a truly inclusive global city.
“The NSW Government is proud to support and celebrate Sydney WorldPride Festival, the most internationally celebrated LGBTQIA+ festival in the world, which will strengthen Sydney’s reputation as a global and inclusive city,” Mr Franklin said.
Funding applications close Friday, 29 April 2022.
