Northern Rivers Reconstruction Corporation - Industry Conference to focus on strengthening region
The Northern Rivers Reconstruction Corporation (NRRC) is hosting an Industry Conference to provide insight into the works required to rebuild the region following the February – March 2022 floods.
Figures released by the Insurance Council of Australia estimate the costs and scale of the damage to homes, business and infrastructure caused by the floods at more than $5.56 billion, the largest in Australian history. In addition, there was already a pre-flood infrastructure pipeline of $3.5 billion in the Northern Rivers.
Hosted by the Northern Rivers Reconstruction Corporation the conference will be held on Thursday 27 April 2023 at Twin Towns, Tweed Heads.
NRRC Chief Executive David Witherdin said “The primary aim of the conference is to connect trades and industry with local councils and state government and get the rebuild underway. The scope and magnitude of the work is significant. We need local industry and trades to be part of building-back-better and I’m keen to see as many small, medium and large businesses involved.
“The NRRC is here to support local industry and build capacity and capability across the region for the long-term. We need to get the work done and strengthen the region for the future. If you work in or supply to the construction industry – we want you there!”
The conference provides opportunity to meet and speak with the key procuring agencies involved in the reconstruction including NSW state agencies and local councils and will cover the pipeline of work, including the Resilient Homes Program and public infrastructure pipeline.
There will be sessions on resilient rebuilding, procurement and diversity strategies to increase the workforce, capability uplifts, business and material innovation and more.
The NRRC is leading and coordinating the long-term reconstruction of essential assets, public infrastructure and housing in flood impacted areas across the NSW Northern Rivers.
The event is free. To register, visit the Trade and Industry events section on the NRRC website.
