Disability employment

Find practical support to hire and include people with disability in the NSW public sector – from recruitment and training to workplace adjustments.

The NSW Government is working to increase the number of people with disability in the public sector. The Disability Review Recommendation is a whole-of-government plan to improve how we recruit and support people with disability. Our goal is to reach a 5.6% disability employment rate.

The Disability Employment and Inclusion Steering Committee oversees this work.

What is disability?

The NSW Government uses a social model definition of disability:

Disability includes long-term physical, mental health, intellectual, neurological or sensory differences which, in interaction with various attitudinal and environmental barriers, may hinder full and effective participation in society on an equal basis with others.
