Unclaimed money

Thousands of people in NSW are owed unclaimed money.

Around $152 million is sitting unclaimed from deceased estates, share dividends, bonds, over payments and other sources.

Revenue NSW holds money indefinitely until it is claimed.

The money sits with Revenue NSW because the owners’ contact details are out of date and we haven’t been able to track them down.

What we are doing

We want to give unclaimed money back to the rightful owners.

Customers can check if any of this unclaimed money belongs to them through a free tool on the Revenue NSW website.

There are around 430,000 unclaimed parcels of money. The parcels range from $20 in share dividends, to a trust fund worth more than $1 million.

How we are tracking

Unclaimed money is found every day.

People across NSW are using the free tool on the Revenue NSW website each day to check if they are owed unclaimed money.
