Private Native Forestry monitoring, evaluation and reporting
Local Land Services provides annual data on all Private Native Forestry Plans, Forest Management Plans and harvesting activities. You can view the public register below.
Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting Framework
The Private Native Forestry Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting Framework (MER Framework) has been developed with input from Local Land Services (LLS), other government agencies and independent scientific experts. The design of the MER Framework was overseen by the NSW Forest Monitoring Steering Committee, independently chaired by the Natural Resources Commission.
The objective of the MER Framework is to guide the monitoring of private native forests to improve the evidence base and inform decision making, longer-term reviews and adaptive management.
LLS is implementing a monitoring and research program that involves:
- measuring and monitoring forests over time
- evaluating information and trends
- using that information to improve decision making, program implementation and management.
LLS submits an annual evidence report to the NSW Forest Monitoring Steering Committee for review. This review ensures that the evidence base, including relevant maps, is:
- up to date
- identifies emerging evidence from monitoring and research
- highlights opportunities for improvement.
