Regional Youth Taskforce 2022 Recruitment
Have your say and make a difference to the future of young people in regional NSW and apply to become a member of the NSW Government 2022 Regional Youth Taskforce.
Applications to join the 2022 Regional Youth Taskforce are now open.
The Regional Youth Taskforce helps to advise the Minister for Mental Health, Regional Youth and Women, The Hon. Bronnie Taylor, on issues affecting young people living in regional NSW.
The third Regional Youth Taskforce will be appointed from January 2022 until 31 December 2022. Over this period the Taskforce will have four meetings with the Minister in various locations around NSW, either online or in person.
Up to 18 members who reflect the diversity of young people in regional NSW will be selected.
Members will have their transport, food and accommodation costs covered. Meetings will be scheduled to take place on weekends or in school holidays.

About you

Eligibility
We would love to see applications from young people who are:
- aged 12-24
- live in regional NSW (defined as areas outside of Greater Metropolitan Sydney, Newcastle, or Wollongong Local Government Areas).
The map shows the areas of eligibility. You are not eligible if you live in the Greater Sydney Metropolitan area, the Wollongong or Newcastle Local Government Areas. Application process
Applications open on Tuesday 12 October 2021 and close at midnight Sunday 21 November 2021.
As well as answering the questions in the application form, we invite you to share a short video or write a short piece to tell us about yourself, your passions and some of your experiences. Please tell or show us what you think are the three most important issues impacting young people in your part of regional NSW and give your pitch about what can be done to address one of these issues.
Applications will be assessed by a panel and appointed by Minister Taylor.
Before you begin
To access the application form, you are required to register for SmartyGrants – the platform we are using.
Once you have clicked ‘Register’ an activation email will be sent to your registered email address. Please go to that email's inbox, find the activation email from 'service@smartygrants.com.au' and click on the link to activate your account.
You may begin anywhere in this application form. Please ensure you save your application as you go.

Moving through the application form
On every screen (page of the form) you will find a Form Navigation contents box which links directly to every page of the application. Click the link to jump directly to the page you want.
You can also click 'next page' or 'previous page' on the top or bottom of each page to move forward or backward through the application.
Saving your draft application
If you wish to leave a partially completed application, press 'save' and log out. When you log back in and click on the 'My Submissions' link at the top of the screen, you will find a list of any applications you have started or submitted. You can reopen your draft application and start where you left off.
You can also download any application, whether draft or completed, as a PDF. Click on the 'Download' button located at the bottom of the last page of the application form.
Submitting your application
You will find a Review and Submit button at the bottom of the Navigation Panel. You need to review your application before you can submit it.
Once you have reviewed your application you can submit it by clicking on 'Submit' at the top of the screen or on the navigation panel. You will not be able to submit your application until all the compulsory questions are completed.
Once you have submitted your application, no further editing or uploading of support materials is possible.
When you submit your application, you will receive an automated confirmation email with a copy of your submitted application attached. This will be sent to the email you used to register.
If you do not receive a confirmation of submission email, then you should presume that your submission has NOT been submitted.
Attachments and support documents
We invite you to provide information via EITHER video OR a written piece where you tell or show us what you think are the three most important issues impacting young people in your part of regional NSW and give your pitch about what can be done to address one of these issues.
NOTE: you only need to submit a video OR written response in section 2. You do not need to provide both. If you choose to submit a video as part of your application you have the option of uploading the video in to SmartyGrants or provide a link to a video hosting platform such as Youtube, Vimeo or Dropbox.
If uploading it directly to SmartyGrants, the Maximum limit is 25MB per file upload. This is very simple, but requires you to have the video saved on your computer, or on a storage device. You need to allow enough time for each file to upload before trying to attach another file. Files can be up to 25MB each; however, we do recommend trying to keep files to a maximum of 5MB – the larger the file, the longer the upload time. If your video is greater than 25MB, please:
- compress the file before uploading;
- provide the link to your video at Youtube or other online platform; or
- provide the link to your video at WeTransfer
Spell check
Most internet browsers (including Firefox v2.0 and above; Safari; and Google Chrome) have spell checking facilities built in – you can switch this function on or off by adjusting your browser settings.
