Barrington River - Trees blocking river in two locations

Hazard to navigation

Transport for NSW advises that due to recent flood events, several navigable sections of the Barrington River between The Steps Campground, Bindera and the Barrington Bridge Reserve at Gloucester may be partially or completely blocked by fallen trees, logs and other debris.

Specifically the navigation hazards described below have been identified:

  1. A tree has fallen and is blocking the river located approximately 5km downstream of the Steps campground at Bindera.
  2. A tree has fallen and is blocking the river located approximately 9km downstream of Rocky Crossing.

Navigation warning

River users are reminded to be extra vigilant and seek local advice before attempting these sections of the Barrington River.

River users are advised to inspect white water and rapid sections of the river before attempting to negotiate them.

Paddlers should be mindful that rivers are naturally dynamic and users must consider river heights, their own ability and the suitability of their craft before attempting to negotiate any river.

This navigation warning remains in place until further notice, and will be monitored in the coming months.
