Aquatic Activity

Vessel operators are advised that a licenced Jet powered vessel high speed trial activity will be held on the Blowering Dam, staged from a location known as the Pines, near the township of Tumut during the times above. 

Exclusion zone 

Due to the potential to affect the safety of navigation, Transport for NSW has granted an Exclusive Use Aquatic Licence to Warby Motorsport Pty Ltd to conduct the activity, and an exclusion zone will be established on the navigable waters of Blowering Dam at Tumut comprising the entirety of the Blowering Dam, which will be indicated and monitored by control vessels and patrolled by NSW Maritime vessels. 

At varying times during the event, a ‘Transit Lane’ may be established within which an Authorised Officer may, at times when the jet powered vessel is not being operated, permit local vessel traffic to pass through the exclusion zone. At such times, the exclusion zone will not be enforced. 

Due to the high speeds involved in the event, Transport for NSW urges all spectators to exercise extreme caution when in the vicinity, to be aware of the approaching vessel and likely exit routes in case of an emergency.

Directions

Transport for NSW advises that in relation to the exclusion zone:

• Persons within the exclusion zone must comply with a direction given by any Boating Safety Officer or Police Officer to leave the exclusion zone. Failure to comply with the direction is an offence (Marine Safety Act 1998, s.18B(4) - Maximum Penalty $1,100).
• Persons within the vicinity of the exclusion zone must comply with any other direction given by any Boating Safety Officer or Police Officer that may be necessary for marine safety during the event. Failure to comply with any such direction is an offence (Marine Safety Act 1998, 15A(2) - Maximum Penalty $3,300.00).
