About this location
The History centre was officially opened as part of the Eden Whale Festival. It is one of the three pillars supporting the story of Ben Boyd in Australia in the period 1842-1849. The other 2 Pillars are the projects to operate a top-sail schooner-the Wanderer 2-out of Eden and to build wooden boats with a the possibility of reviving the Eden Whaleboat Regatta.
The Centre is located on Boydtown Park Road at Boydtown adjacent to the Seahorse Inn Car Park, Boydtown. The centre is open on Sundays and Public Holidays from 1pm-4pm. It features original paintings and period photographs with extensive descriptions of Ben Boyd’s activities including commercial enterprises such as whaling, shipping, banking, owning and operating stations, wheat and wool growing and trading, both out of Sydney and Boydtown.
The history centre is also the starting point for the Boydtown History Walk.
