About this location
The Wellington Caves has so much to offer for both those young and young at heart. With three caves and a Discovery Lab to explore, you will have the adventure of a lifetime and will surely want to come back for more!
The Gaden Cave - The smallest of the three caves, displays a showcase of dazzling formations of stalagmites, stalactites and unique coral-like formations. The complexity within this chamber results in a diverse display of crystal formations to wonder and amaze.
The Cathedral Cave - Formed over millions of years, this limestone cave showcases an inspiring limestone and crystal formation reaching a staggering 15 metres in height. As you wonder at its extraordinary features you will also see hints of marine life from 400 million years ago.
The Phosphate Mine - Embedded in the rock walls are thousands of fossil and bone deposits dating back over one million years. A paleontologist's wonderland with mammal fossils from extinct worlds, one of the reasons for our international significance. Encountering these caves via a restored WW1 mine shaft offers insight into the discovery of natural resources in the early twentieth century.
