Overview of this event
7th Hello Koalas Festival (established 2017) is the world's first festival celebrating Australia's much loved iconic koala.
The Festival is an annual cultural tourism event held in September with a diverse Festival program, including a four day Treasure Hunt.
The Festival has been inspired by the Hello Koalas Sculpture Trail which encompasses 83 fibreglass one metre high koala sculptures, hand-painted by local artists, located in 68 locations on the Mid North Coast. Plus we now have "The Big Koala .. The Spirit of All Koalas", our 2.5 metre koala sculpture at Guulabaa, Place of Koala in the new tourism and educational precinct in the Cowarra State Forest, being created by Forestry Corporation in collaboration with 4 project partners including Hello Koalas Sculpture Trail, WildNets Forest Adventures, Koala Conservation Australia (wild koala breeding centre) and Bunyah Aboriginal Land Council's (gallery and cafe).
The Festival highlight is the annual Treasure Hunt, an outdoor nature-based cultural experience over four days, presented in partnership with Regional Australia Bank.
35 Hello Koalas sculptures on the Trail have been selected for the 2023 Treasure Hunt discovery adventure around Greater Port Macquarie.
Participants receive a Certificate of Achievement. Lots of prizes to be won! Online registrations open January 2023 and its free to join in the fun for all the family.
