Overview of this event
Calling emerging and established artists, frustrated perfectionists, students of art, and students of life! Are you a dancer, a poet, a painter, a potter? Sign up for 8 to Create, an eight-hour experimental exploration that forces you to say, at the end of the day “finished is better than perfect.”
Arrive at Maitland Regional Art Gallery on Saturday morning and be directed to a source of inspiration (an exhibition) that you will need to respond to in your work. You will have eight hours, from 9-5, to create a masterpiece in the medium of your choice. There are two rules:
1. You must make something inspired by at least one work in the assigned MRAG exhibition.
2. Your work must be finished by 5pm Saturday afternoon and you will need to meet with their team at 5pm to discuss the display.
That evening you will have the option to present your work to a welcoming crowd. You will have a new piece of art to add to your repertoire.
Spaces are limited and registration in advance is required. This challenge is open to people aged 16 and over and students are encouraged to apply.
