Overview of this event
Discover how Natalie Fisher transforms ancient Uzbek architectural motifs into contemporary needlepoint tapestries as she sits down with Sam Bowker to explore her unique creative journey. From the ornate decorative tiles of historic Uzbekistan to the intimate craft of needle and thread, this conversation and exhibition will reveal the fascinating intersection of cultural heritage and modern artistry.
Chok is the Uzbek word for 'stitch'. Chok is the sister book to Natalie's first release, 'Ghorzah: Islamic Architecture in Needlepoint'. Both books will be available for viewing and purchase on the night.
You can also view Natalie's latest needlepoint works inspired by Uzbek architecture - on exhibition for one night only.
This evening will delight anyone interested in textile arts, Islamic architecture, Islamic art, visual culture, travel. It promises rich conversation, beautiful art and some surprise treats!
