Overview of this event
Experience the beauty and discipline of traditional East Asian brushwork at the Calligraphy Exhibition hosted by Forever Young Gallery in Young. This exhibition brings together a remarkable lineup of artists whose works celebrate culture, nature and craft.
Korean artist Hyosoon Shin presents more than four decades of refined calligraphy and ink painting, capturing the purity of nature through delicate strokes and thoughtful use of colour. Her internationally exhibited works offer visitors a chance to appreciate the elegance and depth of Korean fine art.
Australian sumi-e artist Stephen Carroll shares a collection shaped by years of study across Japan, China, Korea, Canada and Australia. His paintings blend traditional techniques with a gentle, contemporary sensibility, inviting viewers into moments of stillness and expression.
Mandy McDonald adds a striking contrast with her luminous warm-glass creations. Working with fusing, slumping and casting, her functional and sculptural pieces explore texture and form, showcasing the skill she has honed over 25 years.
Photographer Maree Myhill enriches the exhibition with vivid captures of Australian nature. Her landscapes, birdlife, florals and atmospheric full-moon images celebrate the beauty of the natural world, offering a serene and captivating visual journey.
Together, these artists create a diverse and inspiring exhibition that invites you so look closely and enjoy the creativity from the Hilltops and beyond.
