Overview of this event
This powerful installation features over sixty gabions, each filled with thousands of discarded plastic toys. The work is a thought-provoking commentary on consumerism, consumption, and the spiralling habits of a wasteful society that often begin in childhood.
The sheer scale of Anthropocene challenges viewers to rethink their relationship with the environment and the impact of choices on the world around us, inviting us to reflect on our own relationship with consumer culture and the impact it has on the planet. Chris Whyte’s Anthropocene draws attention to the throwaway culture that has become so prevalent in society and highlights the urgent need for change.
Wagga Wagga Art Gallery is closed on Mondays.
