Overview of this event
Frisian whitework comes from Friesland in the Netherlands. Frisian whitework samplers often featured alphabet letters in varying sizes and styles, large and small spot motifs, and designs for bands.
Learn the technique of Frisian whitework, making the Dutch Heart Sampler at a weekend workshop in Walcha NSW, with internationally renowned whitework expert, Yvette Stanton.
In this class you will learn the basics of Frisian whitework, including stitches such as satin stitch (regular and diagonal), eyelets (single and clustered), whipped backstitch, topwinder stitch and chain stitch. The project is worked in pearl cotton thread on 28 count linen. All levels of proficiency are welcome, but experience with counted thread work is an advantage.
Bookings are essential, as limited places are available.
