FEAST

In 2024, BMEC launched East – A Celebration of Asian Cultures in Bathurst, a vibrant and joyful event that received strong community support. Following a period of reflection on its successes and areas for growth, a debriefing process has highlighted the need for a broader strategic approach in 2025—one that embraces greater diversity and is informed by deeper community consultation. The proposed evolution of the festival will see it reimagined as FEAST—a celebration of diversity, performance, flavours, and ideas. The opening day will coincide with the International Day of Sign Language, with Auslan being recognized and incorporated throughout the festival. Planned events include a free community picnic and concert, culinary "taste" experiences, a Dangerous Ideas-style keynote, ticketed performances and films, a community photographic exhibition, and more. To shape the festival's direction, organisers are currently conducting a community stakeholder survey to gather ideas and suggestions.
