Overview of this event
The Parliament of NSW, Australia's oldest parliament, is opening its doors for a fun-filled Festival of Democracy – a jam-packed day of discovery, learning, and hands-on activities for young citizens across the state.
This exciting open day is designed for children aged four to 12 years and their parents or carers, offering free, interactive and educational experiences that bring democracy to life.
The activities on offer will entertain and inspire both children and adults. You can step inside history with guided chamber tours or get creative in arts and crafts workshops. You'll go behind the scenes with special video screenings and learn about how laws are made. Or travel through time with historical re-enactment. Plus, young citizens can take to the floor in a mock committee hearing and learn about voting with the NSW Electoral Commission.
