Fibre to Form - Twining with Jugan Dandii

A relaxing and immersive day with local weaving collective Jugan Dandii learning the art of twining and natural fibre weaving. Twining is an archetypal technique common to many cultures, and is an easy, meditative way to create bags, baskets or sculptural forms from common gardenand wild foraged plant material. Under the guidance of experienced local weavers Aunty Tania Marlowe and Deb Cole, participants will learn how to harvest and prepare their own fibres from the surrounding environment for weaving baskets or other forms. A variety of twining techniques will be demonstrated, and participants will have the opportunity to commence a range of decorative and rustic natural baskets, whilst enjoying yarns and conversation. This workshop is suitable for all experience levels. Tools and materials are included. Local weaving collective Jugan Dandii are Nyangbal, Bundjalung woman Aunty Tania Marlowe and fibre artist/educator Debra Cole.
