Step back 400 million years and uncover treasures in an ancient seabed!
Join a hands-on adventure perfect for families, explorers, and paleontology enthusiasts.
Embark on a self-drive guided tour of two fossil beds on private property just 10km from Yass. These extraordinary sites, part of the Silurian period, date back 443-419 million years and were first recorded by explorer-geologist Paul Edmund de Strzelecki and made famous by Alfred Shearsby.
Tours will meet at Coronation Park, behind the Yass Valley Visitors Information Centre at 1:30pm.
Please park along Browne Street.
Sturdy footwear, sun protection, water and a moderate level of fitness are required. There is a toilet available at Coronation park, but no toilet facilities at the fossil sites.
