Overview of this event
Fragile World brings together recent ceramic figurative sculptures, artist prints made on residency in Paris, and watercolours that span the artist's practice. Ideas of vulnerability and fragility are expressed through scale, intimacy, and humour. The figurative works are intimate portrayals that reference different ceramic traditions. The medium of clay, with its embedded transformative nature of fragility and strength, becomes a metaphor for themes and debates of the everyday. While works on paper, including portraits and text-based works, express desire, identity, and emotional proximity.
Sassy Park is the 2024 winner of the Shoalhaven Regional Gallery exhibition as part of the Meroogal Women's Art Prize. The Meroogal Women's Art Prize is a regional, non-acquisitive competition and exhibition that respond to the historic house of Meroogal, Nowra. The prize has been in existence for twenty years and Shoalhaven Regional Gallery is proud to partner with Museums of History NSW in supporting women artists and this prestigious prize.
