Overview of this event
Legends and Larrikins sets the theme for the Henry Lawson Festival, celebrating the larger-than-life characters, cheeky humour and enduring spirit found throughout Lawson's stories.
From bush legends to loveable larrikins, this year's theme invites visitors to step into a weekend of storytelling, colour and character in true Lawson style.
The Henry Lawson Festival returns to Grenfell over the June Long Weekend, inviting visitors to experience one of the Central West's most cherished celebrations of Australian literature, heritage and community spirit.
Set in the artistic heart of the region, the festival pays tribute to the life and legacy of Henry Lawson, whose stories and poetry shaped Australia's cultural identity. Across the weekend, Grenfell comes alive with performances, competitions, markets and family-friendly entertainment.
Festival highlights include the much-loved Saturday Street Parade, followed by a vibrant street party featuring roving performers, live music and a diverse range of market stalls.
Friday night sets the tone for an unforgettable weekend with an Opening Night Concert, with supper available.
Visitors are encouraged to make a long weekend of it, with excellent camping options available at the Grenfell Showground and the camping area near the historic railway station.
With creative competitions running in the lead-up and a full program of events across the weekend, now is the perfect time to start planning an extraordinary June long weekend in Grenfell.
