Overview of this event
The Lake Mac Urban Arts Group (LMUAG) offers weekly creative sessions capturing the character of Lake Macquarie through expressive sketching and watercolour painting. Participants explore different urban environments at each location, experimenting with observational drawing and painting techniques.
These inclusive, flexible community sessions welcome all skill levels. Each week, an experienced tutor introduces a specific technique or aspect of observational drawing and provides feedback on request, supporting participants to develop the skills they are most interested in. Attendees are encouraged to suggest future locations, uncovering both familiar and hidden views of the local area.
LMUAG fosters a friendly, supportive, and enthusiastic environment where participants can make discoveries, embrace mistakes, and grow as artists through their sketchbooks. The group invites anyone interested in capturing the colours, moods, and unique character of Lake Macquarie to join these on-location sessions, combining learning, creativity, and community connection.
