Overview of this event
Come and listen to Joshua Gilbert talk about his new book "Australia's Agricultural Identity: An Aboriginal yarn". He puts the culture back in to Agriculture, and sheds light on the role identity plays in the past, present and future of farming.
Joshua has a law degree and experience in working as a consultant with businesses large and small, whilst he is immersed in his own agriculture business. His family has been "on the land" for some generations, and he has learnt to be a farmer from his various relatives with farming experience on Wiradjuri and Worimi country. As a Worimi man, Joshua has also learnt much about traditional Indigenous agricultural practices, and he is in tune with new and developing technology and insights. He is keen to let people know how these approaches can all work together in productive ways.
Josh gives voice to the value of traditional knowledge, connection to country and the potential of a truely Australian Agricultural Identity.
This free event is hosted collaboratively by Thrive, PAW Science and Ideas Hub and Reconciliation Dungog. Stay and have a yarn with Joshua and others present, and this will be followed by an informal sausage sizzle as a fundraiser for Reconciliation Dungog.
