Overview of this event
First Nations People have been performing cultural dance for hundreds of thousands of years. Dance is used to tell the stories of creation beliefs, connections to totems, to tell stories of ancestral heroes and to educate about country, kinship and cultural responsibilities. In this workshop participants will learn all about cultural dance and meaning behind the dances they are learning. Participants will have the opportunity to learn cultural dance and song in a fun interactive session.
Gawura Cultural Immersions is a company dedicated to delivering high-level cultural education grounded in the ancient knowledge of First Nations peoples. Drawing on wisdom passed down through countless generations, the organisation facilitates immersive learning experiences that go far beyond traditional dance performances or surface-level cultural encounters.
Gawura offers a deeply enriching journey into cultural heritage through structured cultural frameworks and a variety of mediums. These include song, dance, cultural humility training, professional development for staff, cultural supervision, and the facilitation of emotional, spiritual, and physical wellbeing. Through these offerings, Gawura Cultural Immersions provides transformative education that fosters genuine understanding, respect, and connection.
