Overview of this event
Please join them for National Tree Day.
You will be helping to revegetate the old disused roadway restoring the canopy, understory, and ground cover layers. There are 1000 plants to go in. These plants will supplement the existing roadside vegetation.
Roadside vegetation is recognised as providing important habitat in a mostly cleared agricultural landscape. It can be a stepping stone between remnant vegetation patches. Roadside vegetation faces many threats including: dumping and litter, illegal firewood removal, overgrazing, and loss of tree hollows.
This site contains critically endangered Box Gum Grassy Woodland.
All ages welcome, must be prepared to get your hands dirty. Free BBQ lunch provided.
Parking for this event has been kindly provided by Wagga Model Aero Club (Olympic Hwy just past Dunns Rd intersection, South bound from Wagga Wagga on left) and a free short shuttle bus ride is kindly provided by Thomas Bros to take volunteers from carpark to planting site
