Overview of this event
The Nundle Folk and Fire Festival is family-friendly folk music festival held in the heart if Nundle village, at the Woollen Mill Grounds. The festival will feature musicians from the folk and roots music genre who often sit on the fringe of the better known Country Music scene. This festival will allow these artists to shine and gain recognition in their own right.
The iconic Nundle Woollen Mill is a much loved tourism mecca for travellers seeking a taste of Australian Heritage. The Woollen Mill grounds are also known as the 'Village Green' and have been the home of the Nundle Country Picnic and the Nundle Go For Gold festivals. These events have run for over 10 years and have drawn crowds of many thousands to our tiny village of only 400.
The "fire" theme for this festival was inspired in part by the colour of the Nundle hills which light up like gold and twinkle like fire on sunset. The theme also embraces, rather than shies away from the Nundle bitter winters. The festival will be filled with lanterns, fire drums and hot local food such a soups and dumplings to warm the hearts and souls of attendees. A lantern parade through the streets of Nundle by local school kids will open the event.
