Overview of this event
Told through emotion-evoking Indian Dance and yoga, the mythical story of Orpheus has been given a global twist for upcoming appearances at the Newcastle Fringe Festival, with international artist Shakti bringing a new approach to the ancient Greek tale.
Death is not an end but rather a new beginning, according to a myth that tells the story of Orpheus, a musician, and his beautiful wife, Eurydice. Tragically separated from him after she dies from a viper's bite, Orpheus is filled with grief and embarks on a journey to bring his beloved bride back.
With no boundaries for the universal artist, Orpheus by Shakti takes you on a new path through the age-old journey. Into the depths of the storm in the underworld, encountering the lost souls and stillness of the River Styx to tell the tale of the bridging of the two worlds and acceptance of both the start of the journey to descend into the underworld to search for life.
