Overview of this event
Create your own personalised clay totem pole in a two-day workshop under the tutorage of experienced ceramicist, Susan Isherwood!
The workshop is suitable for beginners with clay and more experienced practitioners who are interested in learning the Japanese Kurinuki hand building technique.
Kurinuki translates in Japanese ‘to hollow’ and is a traditional technique to make pottery from carving away or hollowing a single block of clay. It is a methodical and meditative process that produces ceramics that can never be repeated, hence the final result will be unique to you.
Once complete, your beautiful totem will be between 30cm and 40cm tall and suitable for indoor or outdoor installation. If you would like something taller, you may consider installing on top of a post.
Inclusions:
All materials and tools and bisque firing of your totem, Course notes, Morning and afternoon tea on Saturday and Sunday.
Exclusions:
Accommodation and transport; Lunch and Dinner on Saturday and Sunday (A list of lunch options will be available to order from a local cafe)
