Overview of this event
Unprecedented is a new play raging at the fault lines in the national response to the ‘Black Summer’ bushfires of 2019-20. Meticulously researched, drawing on numerous sources, award-winning playwright Campion Decent fashions a gripping account of the fires and takes the pulse of the nation against a growing backdrop of political short-termism and a polarising media landscape.
Part verbatim, part history, and part polemic; with incisive humour and powerful tenderness Unprecedented poses urgent questions about our collective response to a devastating new scale of environmental disaster and our capacity for resilience in the face of a growing climate emergency.
Unprecedented advances the conversation Campion Decent and HotHouse Theatre commenced on Australia’s relationship to fire with their award-winning verbatim play, Embers.
