Overview of this event
By Spark Sanders Robinson
Mentored by Alice Osborne
Mira doesn't want to move. She likes her seaside home, the things she knows and the memories they hold. Her mother, Ash, says they have no choice. She's been strongarmed by forces outside of her control and this is not a negotiation.
With no one to turn to and faced with the prospect of leaving everything behind, Mira retreats into her imagination. Here, her home is more than just a house, but an entire underwater world.
Combining puppetry, object theatre and an original story, What We See in the Water reimagines the music of classical composer Edward Elgar to explore the personal cost of changes outside of our control and how we respond to our rapidly deteriorating planet.
