Overview of this event
Creative walks to reflect, create and converse through bushfire recovering properties in the Braidwood and Shoalhaven River district.
“Wonder Walks” is part of Project Alchemy, a series a cross disciplinary arts projects to build community connection across south-east Australia. The project is facilitated Canberra based Rebus Theatre and involves artists from Bega Valley Shire, Eurobodalla Shire, East Gippsland, Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council, and the ACT.
The resilience and regrowth of fire threatened and/or affected areas of the region have inspired this project.
“Wonder Walks” will explore the experiences and challenges of local community members through a series of creative walks in the Braidwood region.
There is the opportunity to engage in creative arts activities on the day, including eco-dyeing, drawing and storytelling. The purpose of these walks is to “walk and talk” with others, engaging in the wonder, quietness and unique landscapes of the Southern Tablelands.
Some creative activites on the day may include eco-dyeing, drawing, writing and sharing stories.
Participants are encouraged to just “rest and be” in the bush, with no pressure of any goal….except to feel restored and inspired.
Project Alchemy is made possible thanks to funding from the Australian Government for the Black Summer Bushfire Grant Program.
Rebus is also supported by Ainslie and Gorman Arts Centres and the ACT Government.
