Westmead redevelopment
The Westmead Redevelopment project is transforming healthcare in western Sydney.

The $1 billion NSW Government project – the biggest health infrastructure project in the state – will transform the Westmead health, education and research precinct and deliver an innovative, integrated facility that will continue to deliver high-quality healthcare for decades to come.
Stage 1 of the project includes a new central acute services building, which will increase integration between Westmead Hospital and The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, and include new operating theatres, surgical suites and state-of-the-art pharmacy and imaging.
The project also includes a $95 million refurbishment of The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and significant refurbishments to Westmead Hospital - nearly 30 per cent of the existing hospital will be renovated between 2017 and 2022.
The NSW Government has also invested in significant upgrades to car parking, including a new multi-storey car park at Westmead Hospital. The car park opened in December 2017, improving parking for staff, patients and visitors.
The Health Infrastructure project is part of the NSW Government’s commitment to keeping people healthy and out of hospital, providing world-class clinical services with timely access and services, and investing in critical infrastructure.
