2022 The One to Watch Award
Supported by the Advocate for Children and Young People, The One to Watch Award recognises girls and young women aged 7 to 17 who demonstrate a single act or ongoing acts of courage, strength, determination and kindness to help and support others.

Emily Bartrop
Electorate: Ku-ring-gai
Inspired by her sister’s congenital heart disease, Emily Bartrop has been supporting Heartkids and leading the yearly art exhibition which has now raised over $10,000 in funds.
Laura Carter
Electorate: Northern Tablelands
Laura Carter developed a wide range of wellbeing projects for her school such as Female Empowerment Day and has won a grant for her community at Emmaville to gain access to free fitness equipment.
Joss Davies
Electorate: Upper Hunter
Joss Davies is a resilient young woman who lives above her degenerative genetic condition, volunteering at the PCYC and is now in the process of setting up her own design and print business ‘Joss’s Can Do Creations’.
Edie Hall
Electorate: Charlestown
Edie Hall joined the World’s Greatest Shave and raised over $15,000 to help support Leukaemia foundation to support a close family friend battling cancer.
Shalise Leesfield
Electorate: Port Macquarie
Shalise Leesfield is an advocate for the environment. She has been involved in marine conservation projects from her local council to various international programs.
Ariba Omar
Electorate: Wagga Wagga
Ariba Omar loves volunteering for Cancer Council, MS Readathon, Variety ‘s Hair with Heart, and has been advocating to minimize screen time, spoken against bullying and the importance of being cyber safe.
Karin Rezkalla
Electorate: Wagga Wagga
Karin Rezkalla created ‘PhenomeWomen’, an online platform which provides young women the resources, skills and community they need to show the world what they're capable of.
Madeleine Saxby
Electorate: Keira
Madeleine Saxby is raising awareness for Vanishing White Matter Disease and has played a vital role in coordinating fundraising events dedicated to finding a cure for the rare, terminal brain disease.
Lennox Wade - Winner
Electorate: Cronulla
At age 3, Lennox Wade started a movement called ‘Snacktember’ to collect snacks and share them with underprivileged children which has since grown to operate around Australia.
Grace Yeo
Electorate: Bathurst
Grace Yeo is a passionate hockey player and volunteer. In 2021, she successfully petitioned her school to arrange for Hockey NSW to start a weekly program which encouraged children to get active in organised sport.
