Tamworth will soon boast new world-class sporting infrastructure, with the NSW Government committing $4.25 million to bring the $17 million Northern Inland Sporting Centre of Excellence to life.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian and Deputy Premier John Barilaro joined Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson at the site to announce a major overhaul of existing sporting infrastructure and the construction of new athletic, cycling and equestrian facilities.

“Today is another example of the Government’s commitment to investing in local communities across the State and I am determined to ensure that all residents share in the benefits of our strong economy,” Ms Berejiklian said.

“This funding is a major win for Tamworth, and will deliver a boost to the local economy, jobs and tourism.”

“The NSW Government is determined to grow regional sport from grassroots level right through to the elite level,” Mr Barilaro said.

“Regional NSW deserves world-class sporting infrastructure like the Northern Inland Sporting Centre of Excellence and this shows how the NSW Government will continue delivering for our communities.

“This massive funding injection will also ensure Tamworth remains one of the nation’s premium regional sporting centres and tourist attractions.”

Welcoming the commitment, Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said: “This will enhance Tamworth’s reputation as the premier regional destination for world class sporting events.”

The Australian Government has committed $8.5 million to the work, in addition to $4.25 million in council funding.
