About the project
The NSW Government has committed $25 million to the Finley Health Service which will enhance the current health facility and ensure health care services are carefully planned to meet community needs now and into the future.
Design phase
Building hospitals and healthcare facilities is a complex operation involving three key phases – Planning, Design and Delivery. Each development is tailored to a community’s unique health needs and long-term health requirements.
The project is currently in the design stage, with the schematic design and artist impressions for the upgraded health facility unveiled in May 2024.
The community is invited to view and provide feedback on the latest design

The design outlines how the new and refurbished clinical and reception areas will be incorporated into the existing hospital. It will deliver a patient-focused health service, improving healthcare delivery and enhancing the overall patient experience.
The redevelopment will:
- expand and reconfigure the reception area
- deliver new inpatient rooms
- relocation the medical imaging unit and provide a new ultrasound service
- improvements to the Emergency Department
- essential service upgrades including IT for a better connected health service, and
- improvements to staff facilities.
The hospital design has been informed by extensive feedback and consultation with health professionals, staff, patients, Aboriginal community representatives and the Local Health Advisory Committee.
New staff accommodation units will be built on the existing hospital site as part of the Key Worker Accommodation program (read more below).

Health Infrastructure
Six new staff accommodation units will be built on the existing hospital site as part of the Key Worker Accommodation program. This is a separate project to the Health Service Redevelopment but will run concurrently.
The self-contained units will be fully furnished and equipped with all the necessities including kitchens, bedrooms, ensuite bathrooms, living and outdoor areas.
The units will support heath care workers looking to establish themselves in the community by providing accommodation close to work, which is a key factor in attracting and retaining health workers at rural and regional hospitals.

Construction of the accommodation units will commence off-site shortly, with delivery and on-site installation on the hospital sites expected to start in late 2024.
