What’s this about?

IPART is reviewing the prices that SDP can charge from 1 July 2023. Sydney Water passes on these prices to its customers.

The SDP is the only major non-rainfall source of drinking water in Greater Sydney. It can supply up to 15% of the region’s water.

The new Greater Sydney Water Strategy has identified the SDP should have a larger role in the regions water security. It recommends that it operate as an ongoing source of water, not only as a drought response.

IPART will review the SDP’s pricing proposal to see if it is consistent with its new role of helping improve the region’s water resilience and security. It will also assess whether the proposal is good value for money for customers and the community.

IPART’s Issues Paper sets out its proposed approach to determining the prices. The paper also asks a range of questions to the community parties.
