Subscriptions
The subscriptions block provides a simple, consistent format for including an external link to mail list forms, for example Mailchimp, where the audience can subscribe to newsletters or updates.
When to use subscriptions
By design, the subscription block displays with a grey background and the heading, body content and button are centred.
Do
- Use subscriptions when you want to link to a subscription form for newsletters and other subscriber only content.
- Only use this component for linking to an external URL subscription form, for example, Mailchimp.
- The subscription block can be used on standard, landing and agency landing page templates.
- The subscription block should be placed toward the bottom of your page.
- Use a descriptive heading —recommended limit of 50 characters.
- The body content should be short, clear and easy to scan —recommended limit of 200 characters.
- The body content should use paragraph formatting and should describe what the audience is signing up for.
- The subscription URL should be a valid link to the subscription form.
- The link text appears in the subscription block as a button.
- Use active language that reflects the action the user is taking by pressing the button.
- Recommended character limit is up to 20 characters (around 2-3 words) for the button text.
- Button text should be sentence case, not all capitals.
- Consider using a custom block if the same subscription block needs to be added to numerous pages.
- Remove the subscription block when the information is no longer current.
Don't
- Don't use the subscription block for other types of content like announcements or important messaging, use a callout instead,
- Don't add other links to the body content as this may confuse the audience about what action to take.
- Don't use multiple subscriptions on the same page as this may confuse the audience about what primary action you want them to take.
- Don't add the subscription block to the top or middle of your page. In general, the block should be placed at the bottom.
- Don't forget to remove the subscription block if it was used for a campaign that has an end date.
How to add a subscription
- From drop down Add Subscription.
- Give your subscription block a descriptive Heading. Recommended limit of 50 characters.
- Select the heading Type:
- H2
- The option – Excluded from in-page navigation – displays when you select the H2.
- H3
- H4
- H5
- H2
- Add Content (WYSIWYG) to the block. Recommended limit of 200 characters.
- Add the URL that links to the subscription form or page. This must be an external URL subscription form , for example, Mailchimp.
- Add Link text that will appear as a button. Recommended character limit is up to 20 characters (around 2-3 words) for the button text.
- Save your page to display the subscription block.
