The policy is designed to:
- provide a framework for the supervision of young people within the secure area of a Youth Justice NSW centre
- promote the accountability of young people and Youth Justice NSW employees
- safeguard the wellbeing of young people and Youth Justice NSW employees
- provide a safe and secure working environment for employees and young people in a Youth Justice NSW centre
- set out how officers of Youth Justice NSW are to carry out their work in order to assist the Secretary to discharge his or her functions under The Children (Detention Centres) Act 1987 and Children (Detention Centres) Regulations 2015 (NSW).
