Collarenebri Multipurpose Service - a great place to work
Collarenebri Multipurpose Service has an emergency department with 3 beds, 3 acute beds, 10 residential aged care beds, community health, ambulatory care and renal dialysis. Community health services include women’s health nurse, palliative care, mental health drug and alcohol care.
Outreach medical imaging services available for 4 hours each fortnight and an onsite remote x-ray operator for emergency care. There is also an onsite private GP practice through Ochre Health.
Collarenebri has visiting services including Walgett Aboriginal Medical Service and antenatal and postnatal maternity services.

Collarenebri - a great place to live
Collarenebri is located in North Western NSW, at the eastern edge of the Walgett Shire. It is located 40 kms south of the Queensland border and has a population of 890 people.
Collarenebri is the Aboriginal name for "place of many flowers” andoffers a truly rural experience, with beautiful scenery all around you. There's an abundance of wildlife and during the year Walgett Shire conducts annual events in Collarenebri and nearby towns to enjoy and participate in.
Collarenebri is located near a shallow rocky ford on the Barwon River, which provided a hard bottomed shallow river crossing for stock and pioneering travellers when founded. Many experienced fishermen consider the Barwon River at Collarenebri one of the best inland fishing locations in Australia and has its own fishing club.
Collarenebri also has several gravel pits, where locals and tourists fossick for quartz, topaz, agate and petrified wood. Industries in the area include cottonand wheat farming, sheep and beef cattle breeding.
Climate
Collarenebri has a semi-arid hot climate, with very hot summers, mild to cool winters.
Community
Collarenebri is a peaceful rural town with friendly locals and a range of leisure activities for a fulfilling lifestyle. The median age in Collarenebri is 39 years, with 35% of the population identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Straight Islander in the 2021 census.
Situated on the Barwon river, there's a strongly supported, fishing club bringing families and the community together. The Barwon River at Collarenebri is excellent for boating upstream and good fishing downstream with competitions run through the fishing club.
There's also a swimming pool, golf course, horse racing, team sports such as rugby league, cricket, recreational shooting and lawn bowls for an active lifestyle.
Annual events include the Colly mud trials (driving old modified cars through mud) spring horse races and the famous Colly Cod Classic fishing competition.
Explore the shire and visit the many opal fields nearby or go fossicking for topaz, agate and petrified wood. The Collarenebri Jockey Club hosts an annual race meet in October for a fun day out and the surrounding shire hosts many events throughout the year to be a part of. There are two Christian churches in town with regular services.
There is a supermarket, grocer and butcher that provide the majority of groceries including fresh fruit and vegetables, located in the main street. Collarenebri also has a pharmacy with gift shop, chinese restaurant, newsagency and post office with banking facilities. The local hotel-motel offers meals, accommodation and great social events.

Getting here and away
Collarenebri is a 5 hour drive to Dubbo or a 50-minute drive to Walgett. From Walgett there are daily buses to Dubbo via Walgett Coach Stop and a flight service from Walgett to Dubbo 3 times per week via Air Link
From Dubbo there are daily direct flights to Sydney, Melbourne, Newcastle and Canberra and has over 12 flights departing daily. For current schedules please visit the Dubbo Regional Airport website.
Collarenebri is 90 minutes from Moree which has daily direct flights to Sydney. The drive from Collarenebri to Sydney is approximately 8 hours.
Being in the north of NSW, it is only a 40 minute drive to the Queensland border.
