Condobolin - a great place to live
When it comes to charming country towns, you can't get much better than Condobolin. It's small enough to stay endearing and large enough to keep you entertained. Set on the banks of the Lachlan River, it's a great spot for fishing and water sports, plus has plenty of cultural heritage.
‘Condo’ as it is referred to by locals has a population of 3,500 people with a mean age of 38 and 22.1% of residents reported being Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
Condobolin was established as a Lachlan river-crossing stopover for drovers in the 19th century. It’s a popular fishing spot teeming with cod, yellowbelly and silver perch. It's also known for water sports, including water skiing.
Condobolin’s Utes in the Paddock is a unique and quirky Australian exhibition which is gaining increased national attention. It is the kind of sculpture garden you can only find in Australia. Famous local artists have used nearly 20 classic Holden pickups as canvases to celebrate life in the outback.
Picnic race meets are held annually in February, and both the Condobolin Show and Yellow Mountain Cross Country Navigational Motorbike Enduro is held in August.
Gum Bend Lake is ideal for water skiing, bird watching, kayaking, swimming, picnics and bbq’s. A great place for a long walk or for the kids at the playground. Get active at the Condobolin Swimming Pool and the Willow Bend Sports Centre – a fully functional gym and indoor sports centre. There’s also bowls, golf and a range of outdoor team sports.
You can find a comprehensive list of community services and activities.
