Policy
The Case Management Policy provides a framework for how Youth Justice NSW supports young people through assessment, case planning, intervention, review, and exit planning. It promotes a collaborative, strengths-based, and culturally responsive approach that involves young people, families, and support networks, while ensuring case plans address identified risks, needs, strengths, and goals to support positive outcomes and reduce reoffending.
Guide
The Youth Justice NSW Alerts Manual guides staff on using CIMS Alerts to manage critical risks. Alerts are used only when risks require action beyond normal supervision. It covers alert categories including violence, self-harm, health, drug use, and escape risk. The manual outlines processes for assessing, recording, approving, and communicating Alerts. Alerts must be regularly reviewed, updated, and closed when no longer required.
Procedure
The Case Management Procedure outlines the practical steps Youth Justice NSW staff must follow when working with young people, from allocation and assessment through to case planning, implementation, review, and exit. It promotes a collaborative and strengths-based approach, ensuring young people and their families are actively involved in setting goals, addressing risks and needs, monitoring progress, and planning for successful transitions and positive long-term outcomes
Policy
This policy draws on the importance of recognising, encouraging and rewarding young people for their positive change in behaviour and therefore address and reduce incidents of problematic, challenging behaviour.
