This policy ensures lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual (LGBTQIA+) young people who are in contact with Youth Justice NSW are treated safely and with respect, and that Youth Justice NSW workplaces are inclusive and free from discrimination.
This policy details how to work with LGBTQIA+ young people and:
- provide a safe space for LGBTQIA+ young people
- ensure confidentiality
- provide information to courts
- the proccess of admitting LGBTQIA+ young people to a Youth Justice Centre
- provide placement information
- support gender transitions and other medical support
- where to access further LGBTQIA+ support.
