Grants and payments for businesses, NFPs and community groups affected by floods
If your business, community group or not-for-profit has been affected by severe weather and flooding in NSW, there are grants, payments and other assistance available.

Disaster relief loans
Your organisation or business may be eligible for special loans and subsidies if it was affected by floods.
Check the list of Local Government Areas (LGAs) that are eligible. This support is administered by the NSW Rural Assistance Authority (RAA).
Disaster relief loans for small business
Small businesses may be eligible for a low-interest loan up to $130,000 to help replace and repair damage caused to property. Applications are no longer accepted for the February 2022 floods. Previously approved applicants have until 30 September 2023 to submit invoices to claim payment.

Disaster relief loans for not-for-profits
Not-for-profit organisations affected by flooding or storm damage may apply for up to $25,000 in low-interest loans. Please note that loan applications for the flooding events in February 2022 will no longer be accepted from 30 June 2023.

Disaster relief loans for sporting and recreation clubs
A low-interest loan of up to $10,000 is available to meet the costs of restoring essential club facilities, equipment or other assets that were damaged or destroyed. Please note that loan applications for the flooding events in February 2022 will no longer be accepted from 30 June 2023.

Donated fodder transport subsidy
This scheme provides funding assistance to organisations that donate and transport fodder for livestock.

Medium Business Support Grant
Your medium-sized business or not-for-profit maybe eligible for the Medium Business Support Grant if you experienced damage due to storms and floods commencing:
- 4 August 2022
- 14 September 2022.
This grant of up to $200,000 is to help pay for the costs of clean up and reinstatement of operations.
The business or not-for-profit must be located in one of the following local government areas (LGAs): Balranald, Berrigan, Bogan, Bourke, Brewarrina, Cabonne, Carrathool, Central Darling, Cobar, Cowra, Dubbo, Edward River, Federation, Forbes, Griffith, Gunnedah, Hay, Junee, Lachlan, Leeton, Moree Plains, Murray River, Murrumbidgee, Narrabri, Narrandera, Parkes, Wagga Wagga, Walgett, Warren, Warrumbungle or Wentworth.

Disaster recovery small business grant
If your small business or not-for-profit was affected by floods, you may be eligible for this grant. Applications are made through the Service NSW website.
This grant is to assist organisations affected by storms and floods:
Applications close 15 December 2023.
Up to $50,000 is available through this grant. The funds can go towards the costs of clean up and the reinstatement of operations. This might include:

safety inspections
-
building repairs
-
cleaning equipment
-
materials needed to resume trade
-
disposing of debris and spoiled stock.

NGO Flood Recovery Program – open competitive grants
This program provides $6.5 million to help community-based and volunteer-based non-government organisations deliver critical services to communities.
Services funded through this grant are to assist those affected by the floods that began in August 2022, in the disaster-declared areas of AGRN 1030 or 1034.

$1000 SafeWork small business rebate
The $1000 rebate is available to small businesses and not-for-profits with fewer than 50 full-time employees. Sole traders can also apply.
The rebate helps organisations purchase items to improve work health and safety. To apply, you must agree to the terms and conditions.
Northern Rivers medium size business grant
Applications for this grant closed on 30 June 2023.
Businesses that successfully applied for this grant have more time to submit invoices to claim payment. Applicants have until 15 December 2023 to submit supporting documents.

Community Local Infrastructure Recovery Package
This package provides funding to support small repairs and rebuilding of arts and culture.
Your organisation may be eligible if it was affected by the floods beginning in February 2022. View the list of eligible suburbs under AGRN 1012.
Help with eligibility and applying for support
To receive funds of between $15,000 to $50,000, you will need to submit evidence of payment of the relevant costs at the time of application. For the June/July and August/September flood events the minimum threshold is $25,000.
Receiving some grants or loans can make you ineligible for others. You may also not be eligible if your costs can be covered another way, such as by your insurance. So, it’s important to document your circumstances and get tailored advice about what’s best for your business.
